Financing the education you need for your dream career in the beauty industry may seem daunting. Despite always wanting to become a stylist, you may shy away from the career due to a fear of financial hardship. Make going through beauty school more affordable by applying for one or more of the following scholarships.

Beauty Changes Lives Foundation

Beauty Changes Lives was created with a simple mission in mind: elevate the perception of the beauty industry as a lucrative and rewarding occupation. The Beauty Changes Lives Foundation offers scholarships to those who attend or plan to attend courses related to cosmetology, makeup artistry, esthetics, nail art, and more. Applications are typically open throughout the summer and early fall months. Awards typically range in value from $1,000 to upwards of $10,000. Applications require a storyboard or video submission with a focus on how beauty is important to you.

Professional Beauty Association

Joining an association does more than simply look good on your resume. Professional associations may also have exclusive scholarship opportunities. The Professional Beauty Association has an annual scholarship program that provides a $1,000 scholarship to be used toward cosmetology school or advanced education courses. Scholarship applications can be filled out online and includes an essay question and a request of a recommendation letter from a cosmetology instructor.

The Great Clips Scholarship Program

Every year, Great Clips gives beauty students over $100,000 in financial assistance toward their educational expenses. To qualify, students must be over the age of 16, a resident of the United States or Canada, and be currently enrolled in a cosmetology program. The application period is typically open from August through the end of January.

The Joe Francis Haircare Scholarship Foundation

Joe Francis rose from poverty in the 20th century as a shoeshine boy to the founder of the lucrative Barbers Corporation with 1,000 salons located globally. The Joe Francis Haircare Scholarship Foundation awards $1,200 to each selected recipient of the scholarship with the money paid toward the tuition costs of the beauty school. To be eligible, students must have applied to a cosmetology or barber school or be actively enrolled in a program.
