Meet Latisha Moye, a proud 2018 graduate of LIBS Hauppauge who turned her passion into a thriving career. Today, she owns and operates Sky’s the Limit Dry Bar in Sayville, NY — a chic, confidence-boosting beauty destination she built from the ground up.

In this exclusive interview, Latisha shares how her time at LIBS shaped her journey, the lessons she’s learned along the way, and what exciting goals she’s setting her sights on next.

Q: What made you interested in pursuing a career in the beauty industry?

I feel like I have always been interested in in this field. I have been doing hair since I was about 12, 13.

Q: Where do you work now and what is your specialty?

I am currently working in LIBS as lead educator at night and can teach in the classroom or on the clinic floor. I am also a NY state board examiner for cosmetology, as well as a stylist at Lemontree in Centereach where clients can get great services without paying crazy expensive prices.

Q: Why did you choose LIBS over other schools?

The reason I chose LIBS over other cosmetology schools is because of what they offer. When I was searching through schools, they had everything that I was missing and needed to learn to continue doing hair.

Q: What is your favorite memory at LIBS?

My favorite memory from LIBS is going to night school. I started out in their evening program then switch to daytime. Night school was a lot of fun and I loved my teacher, Ms. L.

Q: What advice to you have for anyone interested in the beauty industry?

Advice that I have for anyone interested in the beauty industry is to stay focused, stay committed, and stay consistent. I know a lot of people go to school and when they finish, they don’t continue in their career. If this is your dream or something you want to do, you must stay consistent and persistent.

Q: Can you tell me more about the Hair Show you are hosting?

It has always been my dream to enter a hair show, but sometimes when you want something so bad, you have to do it yourself. So, I am hosting a Hair Show in Southampton on July 20, 2025 which is also my 40^TH birthday. There will be other salons there that are located across Long Island, as well as some designers.

I also make clothes out of hair so that will be something interesting for everyone to see!

Latisha’s journey is a powerful reminder that passion, persistence, and purpose can lead to incredible success. From styling hair as a teen to opening her own salon and launching her first hair show, she’s living proof that dreams become reality when you put in the work.
