From the moment you open your eyes each morning, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by your to-do list, not to mention current events. But if you set aside time each day for a few simple mood-boosting, healthy activities, you’ll find it easier to take on the world.

Plan a Healthy Menu

Too many of us think of eating right as a chore instead of a pleasure. But if you take the time to create an outline of the healthy meals and snacks you’ll have for the day, it will reap both emotional and physical benefits.

It doesn’t take much time to sketch out, and make, easy, tasty meals that incorporate fresh fruits or veggies, lean proteins and complex carbs. Try Greek yogurt with berries and granola for breakfast, a tuna and tomato sandwich on whole wheat bread for a tasty lunch, and perhaps a microwaved sweet potato with low-fat cheese and herbs for dinner.

(Of course, It also helps if you set aside one or two days a week to shop for those ingredients, and perhaps prep snacks like oatmeal-raisin cookies or fruit salad.)

Don’t Forget the Glow Up

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a beauty student, an executive or a stay-at-home parent. Taking time for your hygiene and beauty routine promotes good health, as well as giving you that crucial boost of confidence.

For your shower or bath routine, indulge in scented face, body, dental and hair products that not only support your beauty goals, but lift your mood. Peppermint or citrus-scented fragrances perk you up in the morning, while lavender and chamomile are relaxing at night.

After you’ve taken care of hygiene, spending at least a few minutes on beauty is always worth it. Even when you’re in a hurry or won’t be seeing anyone, some tinted moisturizer, a bit of lip balm and neatened-up hair will make a world of difference. If you have time, play around with some new products or techniques to keep things interesting.

Soak in the Fresh Air

It’s easy to avoid exercise if it seems like a chore. But if you think of it as a bit of a treat to be getting yourself away from your desk and into the great outdoors, you’ve tricked yourself into a mood-boosting, healthy pursuit.

Being active outdoors gives you an instant emotional lift, while burning fat, lowering blood pressure and helping you sleep better at night. In fact, that lunchtime stroll or morning weed-pulling session can yield results that last the entire day.
