Do you have a passion for all things hair, nails, skincare, and beauty? Are you ready to dive into a rewarding career where you’ll help others look and feel their best every day? If so, then a career as a cosmetologist may be right for you. Specifically, cosmetologists are licensed experts in the art of beautifying hair, skin, and nails.
At Long Island Beauty School, our Hairdressing and Cosmetology program has been recognized and widely regarded by industry professionals for more than 65 years. So, what can you expect from a cosmetology class at LIBS?
What You’ll Learn
Specifically, our Hairdressing and Cosmetology program includes 1,000 hours of state-required training in such areas as:
- Hair coloring and cutting
- Skin care and make-up
- Waxing Techniques
- Scalp treatments
- And more!
Your cosmetology education will provide you with the basics of hair, skin, and nails—as well as the science behind beauty products and ingredients/chemicals can interact together. You’ll also learn how to confidently provide common hair services, ranging from cutting and coloring to styling, blowouts, updos, and more.
A cosmetology class here at Long Island Beauty School will also cover the basics of skin care, including how to achieve today’s most popular make-up styles (such as highlighting and contouring) and how to recommend and carry out the right skin care treatments for each client’s unique needs. Long Island Beauty School also offers a more in-depth Esthetics program to cover more skincare needs.
Those who complete a cosmetology class through LIBS will also learn how to properly and safely cut, shape, and polish fingernails and toenails so they can go on to provide manicures and pedicures with confidence.
In addition to technical training, students will learn essential business and professional skills that will come in handy in the real world. This includes not just scheduling appointments and networking to find new clients, but basic salon management, business development, and more.
How You’ll Learn
At Long Island Beauty School, we pride ourselves on offering a balance of formal classroom education and hands-on training. We believe that in the field of cosmetology, students learn best by both seeing and doing. With plenty of formal and hands-on instruction, students who graduate from our Cosmetology program have the technical expertise and confidence they need to stand out in this competitive field.
