No one expected 2020 to be the year of social distancing. However, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, people have come to rely on virtual tools to work remotely and socialize with their friends.
Just because you are stuck at home doesn’t mean you need to stay in your pajamas all day. Here are a few beauty tips to help you look your best for virtual happy hour:
Wear Plain Clothing
When you are on a virtual call, you want people to focus on your face rather than on what you are wearing. An outfit with a busy pattern — such as bright stripes, vibrant florals or a vintage plaid — may be too distracting. Stick with a solid color. You may want to consider choosing a plain T-shirt in a color that complements your natural skin tone or hair color.
Use a Cold Compress to Minimize Puffiness
Let’s face it, quarantine has everyone feeling all the feelings. If you needed a good cry the night before or you are having trouble sleeping, your eyes and face may be puffier than normal. To minimize puffiness, apply a cold compress to your face about half an hour before the call. This will drain the swelling from your face and help you feel your best.
Apply a Light Coat of Foundation
Blemishes, dark spots and acne will stand out a lot more on your video conference, and may be more distracting than normal. You can smooth out your complexion by applying foundation to your face prior to your virtual call. By doing this, you will eliminate the need for one of those fancy filters.
Use Contrasting Eye Shadow Colors to Bring Out Your Eyes on Camera
One of the pesky tricks that the video camera often plays is making your eyes appear sullen or sunken in. You can combat this look by using a contrasting technique when you apply your eyeshadow. Use a light, neutral tone to coat the eyelid. Then, use a darker, complementary color to add contrast to the crease of the lid. This will allow your eyes to pop, giving you a vibrant, active and youthful appearance.
